Folk Dancing

We like to folk dance!  International Folk, Contra & Scottish Country Dance are the kinds I like most.  I've also done a little English Country & Morris Dance, too. SCA dancing is OK, but it doesn't hold up against these tried and true folk dance traditions (in my humble opinion)! Maybe in a few years the SCA will pick up on the traditions of the past in the right way to make it more fun for everyone.  For now, I dance once in a while, but prefer to dance outside the SCA.

Dancing in our area:

Contra Dancing: 2nd, 4th, 5th Saturdays at 8:00 pm
(usually until 11:00 pm)
Fulton Park Community Center
(FPCC)
68 SW Miles Street
Portland, OR 97219-2863 (US)
(Mapquest Map)
Off of Barbur, at the traffic light just East of Terwilliger.
Intro Workshop: Usually 30 minutes before event

My Review: Many experienced, fun dancers!  Lot's of help for new dancers too! Always great live music! Sometimes folks gather afterward at the nearby McMenemin's Public House.
